From a purely statistical point of view, we will use a measure called Star Ranking
Here’s How We Calculate Star Ranking
- 100 Crs Points: 100 x Number Of Films In The 100 Crore Club
- 200 Crs Points: 200 x Number Of Films In The 200 Crore Club
- 300 Crs Points: 300 x Number Of Films In The 300 Crore Club
- Overseas Points: 50 x Number Of Films In Top 10 Highest Overseas Grossers
- In Case Of Tie, The Position Is Given Based On The Collections Of The Star’s Respective Film
Here is how they stand as of 05-Feb-2019.
So clearly SRK is in a dire need of some 300cr blockbusters if he needs to have any standing in terms of box-office returns as compared to Salman and Aamir. Even Akshay and Ajay are competing for the 3rd spot now with Ranveer Singh trailing close. Clearly, SRK’s stardom is on the wane but it has more to do with the choice of his films rather than his acting chops.
SRK is putting more effort into every film (ever since Happy New Year(2014) tanked despite a humongous opening day) . But even if we look past the box-office collections, SRK has not been able to deliver critical successes either. He ventured into the masala zone with Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express(2013) which is the highest domestic grossing movie of his career. But Dilwale (2015) was mediocre at best.
Raees(2017) tried to be commercial potboiler while being inspired from real events but eventually turned to be neither. The collections were decent but then there was a disaster in Jab Harry met Sejal (2017). His experiments like Fan (2016) and Zero (2018) have failed too.
Ever since Ra.One(2011) bombed it has been a slump for King Khan. My last good memories of an SRK movie is Don 2 that came out way back in 2011.As an SRK fan, I loved Zero a lot and strongly feel it didn’t get its due credit from the box-office.
It’s high time SRK delivers a blockbuster. With Jingoism selling like hot cakes, hopefully, ‘Saare Jahan Se Acha’ will finally do the trick for him.
