Benefits of an Oscar award

The winner of an Oscar award gets the prestigious Oscar Trophy AND the famed Swag Bag. They do not get any cash price.
  • The gold plated Oscar statuette is made by New York’s Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry. But it has no monetary value since the academy legally prohibits the recipients, or their family members, from selling their Oscars without offering it to the motion picture group first, and all they’ll pay is $10 for it.
  • There is a Ball party arranged for the winners, nominees, presenters and the broadcasters of the award show. The party features live entertainment, fancy food from famous chefs and the courtesy of various artists.
  • Since 2010, the winners get the on spot engraving of their names on their oscars. A station is set up at the post-awards Governors Ball reception where stars can watch as their names get carved into their trophies.

A Swag Bag is gifted as a tradition to each winner and the nominees by a company called Distinctive assets. It is given only in acting and directing categories. The gifts in the swag bag tend to be different every year. The giveaways in each bag are estimated to be worth atleast $ 200000 . In 2018, it included :

What do astronauts think about the movie Interstellar?

A few days ago, a group of us from SpaceX took the afternoon off to watch Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’. We loved it. Then again, we don’t get out very often. We probably could have sat through ‘Gigli’ and loved it. As for myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but there were a few things that struck me as inaccurate. First and foremost – the casting.  I mean, is it really necessary to fill every astronaut movie with actors like Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, George Clooney, Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks, and Kevin Bacon? How am I supposed to live up to that? I’m only 5 foot 5 inches tall, for crying out loud!
